Ballycastle North Mayo
Fáilte Romhat go Baile an Chaisil
(Welcome to Ballycastle)
Ballycastle (Baile an Chaisil - meaning Town of the Castle) is a village on the North West coast of Ireland approximately 26km from Ballina. Five Miles west are the Céide Fields - the oldest Stone Age settlement in Europe. The road here runs close to the magnificent cliffs of Céide which are 365 ft high.
The Sea Stack known as 'Dún Briste' can be seen at Downpatrick Head approx. 3 miles north of the village. Here too, is a puffing hole known as 'Poll na Seantaine' with subterranean channel to the sea
